Who is James Hollingshead?

James Hollingshead is a professional bodybuilder from London who was born on March 17, 1989.

He first entered the gym at the age of 14 with the ambition of achieving a ripped physique and gaining size.

Before taking up bodybuilding, James was a boxer and his idol was Iron Mike Tyson.

As time passed, his fascination with bodybuilding and dedication in the gym increased, leading him to embark on a career in the sport.

James’ first major title came at the 2009 UKBFF Junior British Championships, where he took first place.

He followed up impressively by winning the UKBFF Heavyweight Championships.

These victories established James as a rising star in the world of bodybuilding.

He has gone on to win the 2014 and 2017 UKBFF Men’s British Championships (over 100kg), as well as the 2020 Europa Pro Bodybuilding contest.

What is James Hollingshead’s workout plan?

James trains six days a week, focusing on separate muscle groups each day.

He often splits his training into two daily sessions, working out in the morning and evening.

After his evening workouts he takes a walk, which helps him de-stress, as well as improving blood flow and fat loss.

His top three go-to exercises are squats, dips and T-bar rows.

Here’s a sample of his training workouts throughout the week:

  • Monday: Chest in the morning, biceps in the evening, followed by a light walk
  • Tuesday: Back in the morning, calves in the evening, followed by a light walk
  • Wednesday: Deltoids in the morning, triceps in the evening, followed by a light walk
  • Thursday: Rest day
  • Friday: Chest in the morning, biceps in the evening, followed by a light walk outdoors
  • Saturday – Back in the morning, calves in the evening
  • Sunday – Legs

As you might expect, James’ pre-season diet is strict, with his main protein sources being chicken and fish.

He generally eats five meals a day — consuming a whopping 650g of carbohydrates daily.

The NHS recommends people aim for an average of 30g of carbs per day, but most only eat around 18g.

For his intake of carbs he eats brown rice and sweet potatoes, along with some minimal fats.

Although James does restrict some carbs, he never cuts back on vegetables, which he guzzles down in large quantities during contest preparation.

Vegetables are rich in fibre and help him keep satiated, as well as providing vital nutrients.

How much does James Hollingshead weigh?

As a professional bodybuilder, James’ weight fluctuates depending on whether he is competing or not.

Speaking in an August 2023 YouTube video, he shed some light on his weight goals.

At the time he weighed 296 pounds and said: “I think I could be in shape at 275-pounds, 280-pounds.

“I just need to get there and somehow get the fat off me. This year is about trying to do that.

“I’m 296-pounds now and I can go for a jog right now.”

James competes in the heavyweight bodybuilding division, where the weight bracket is 198.25 pounds to 255.25 pounds.
