Who is Jill Douglas’ husband Carl Hogg?

JILL Douglas is a well-known sports presenter with a career spanning over 30 years.

However, she’s not the only famous face in the family – meet her husband, Carl Hogg.

Who is Jill Douglas’ husband Carl Hogg?

Carl Hogg is the husband of sports journalist Jill Douglas.

Together, they have two children called Keith and Rosie.

Hogg was educated at St. Mary’s School, Melrose and Earlston High School.

He then attended Abertay University and Brunel University London.

What does Carl Hogg do?

Hogg is currently the Director of Academy and Development for Gloucester Rugby.

Upon his return to the club in 2021, Hogg said he couldn’t wait to get started.

He explained: “It’s a real honour to return to Gloucester Rugby as the new director of academy and development.

“It’s a club that has always been very close to my heart after spending a number of years here in the past.”

Prior to this, he was head coach for Worcester Warriors from May 2013.

In 2006, Hogg joined Gloucester initially as Academy Manager before taking responsibility for forwards coaching.

He previously landed a coaching role with Edinburgh.

He started his coaching career with future England Coach Stuart Lancaster and Tony Stanger at the Leeds Academy before moving to London Welsh.

In 2003 he turned to coaching after hanging up his boots at Leeds.

What is Carl Hoggs Rugby Record?

One of his biggest impacts on the rugby world will always be his contribution to Melrose Rugby.

Hogg helped Melrose win the Melrose Sevens not only in 1997, but also for a second time in 1998.

This was alongside the likes of fellow Melrose legends Craig Chalmers, Bryan Redpath and Andy Purves.

A spokesperson said at the time: “Melrose Sevens extends its warmest congratulations to Carl Hogg on this well-deserved honour and looks forward to celebrating his induction into the Melrose Sevens Hall of Fame.”

After Melrose, Hogg played for the South of Scotland District.

When the Scottish rugby union environment turned professional in 1996, he then played for the professional district Border Reivers.

In 1998, that side folded and Hogg went on to play for Edinburgh.

He has played for Scotland U19, U21 and was capped by Scotland ‘B’ on 2 March 1991 to play against France ‘B’.

He had 17 appearances for Scotland ‘A’ between 1992 and 2000, captaining the side on six occasions.

Between 1992 and 1994 he made five appearances for Scotland and earned five caps.

In 2001, he moved to Leeds Tykes and retired from playing two years later.

He has captained every club side he has played for.

Is Carl Hogg related to Stuart Hogg?

No Carl is not related to Stuart Hogg.

Stuart’s brother, Graham Hogg, played for Scotland in the IRB Sevens World Series.

He is a distant relative of George Best. 

Interestingly, he only found out the news after making his debut for Scotland in 2012 as a relative of Best saw Hogg play on TV.

Hogg said at the time: “It turns out my granny’s granny was the sister of George’s great-grandfather.”
