The four times IFBB Champion plans to continue bodybuilding and inspire others to do the same in an up-and-coming documentary.
Go-getter
Theresa Ivancik is an American professional bodybuilder.
She was always an active child with lots of energy.
Theresa got her first job at 16-years-old, and while everyone else would be snacking during break, she would be the one to go for a run.
Of an evening she would attend Tae Bo martial arts classes, and when she wasn’t doing that she’d be up late practising her sequinette dance moves for her high school team competitions.
Born September 2, 1983 the Pennsylvania native is an IFBB Chicago Pro champion, winning best poser award in 2020.
Inspiration
She was first inspired to train and compete as a female bodybuilder when she stumbled across an Oxygen magazine in her parents basement.
The pictures of muscly contestants captured her interest and she was adamant that she wanted to achieve the look and strength of a bodybuilder.
In 2005, Theresa started training, and signed up to her local gym that was owned by Jeff Harlan.
She left soon after because she was suffering from an eating disorder.
Bulimia
Theresa is stands at 5 ft 6 inches and weighs a whopping 175 lb (79kg).
The bodybuilding champ openly talks about battling with Bulimia from a young age on Big Idea, Big Moves podcast.
“I would get up, train everyday, do cardio, but it was missing the piece of the food and the food was the fuel.
“You watch yourself at a certain weight, and I was like 110lb, very skinny and didn’t have much muscle tissue at all”, she admits.
Theresa acknowledged that her eating disorder was actually holding her back from what she wanted to achieve and decided to seek professional help.
She eventually overcome her eating disorder to gain weight and become the champion female bodybuilder she always wanted to be.
Track record
In 2008, Theresa returned to Jeff, reinstating him as her personal trainer and lover, and began prepping for the National Physique Committee (NPC).
After coming sixth place in the NCP, Theresa decided to move up to bodybuilding.
In January 2010, she entered and won her first bodybuilding show in Pittsburgh.
At the 2016 NPC Nationals, she placed 1st in the heavyweight category, earning her IFBB Pro card.
In 2019, not only did Theresa and her coach, Jeff Harlan get engaged, but she earned herself a big win.
That was the year that Theresa won her first IFBB Pro League show at the IFBB Norfolk Pro, which qualified her for the Rising Pheonix World Championships where she placed sixth.
This held her in good stead the following year where she went on to earn 1st place, and the best poser award at the 2020 IFBB Chicago Pro
This was a big win for Theresa’s career, qualifying her for Ms Oympia.
The bodybuilding champion attended her first Ms. Olympia in 2020, where she placed 14th.
