Why did Alberto Del Rio leave WWE?

On August 7, 2014, Alberto Del Rio was fired from the WWE because of “unprofessional conduct” following an altercation that broke out with a company employee.

According to Del Rio, WWE social media manager Cody Barbieri allegedly made a racist joke, following which the wrestler confronted him and asked for an apology.

When the guy refused to apologize, Del Rio slapped him.

That was seen as unprofessional conduct and Del Rio was fired from WWE.

Del Rio claimed it wasn’t the first time Barbieri made a racist comment but he’d previously qualified it by saying it had been written by somebody on Twitter.

Who is Alberto Del Rio’s former wife Angela Velkei?

Angela Velkei was Alberto Del Rio’s ex-wife who got married in 2012.

The couple had three children during their marriage.

However, their marriage did not work out and Angela Velkei filed for a divorce in 2016.

Angela claimed that “adultery” was the reason behind their separation.

In 2022, Angela Velkei passed away at a hospital in Satélite, Mexico.

The cause of death was never revealed, but it was something related to health issues, it was understood.

Del Rio had previously called on people to donate blood.

Confirming the news of his ex-wife’s death, the wrestler wrote: “It is with pain in my heart and with a torn soul that I officially confirm the unexpected and unfortunate death of Ángela Velkei, mother of my three children.

“Angela was an exceptional human being and an exemplary mother to my three children.

“Thank you so much, Angela. You have no idea how much we miss you.

“But I swear to you that our children will grow up to be good men and women like you always asked me. 

“In this world, you were always my angel and I always let you know that. Now you truly became an angel watching over us from heaven.”

Where is Alberto Del Rio now?

Alberto Del Rio is currently signed to UFC as a commentator.

He recently denied all claims about his return to the WWE after potential rumours.

Del Rio also claimed on several occasions in the past that a WWE return has been in the works only to fall through.
