He is the tenth Triple Crown champion and the fifth winner of the Grand Slam.

But Angle ended his successful career with WWE, for the first time, on August 25, 2006.

He was granted an early release from his WWE contract for health reasons.

Angle stated in the Kurt Angle: Champion documentary DVD that he asked for his release from WWE because he could not take time off and was working while injured – severely, on some occasions.

He also stated that when he quit, WWE lost their top talent, as he was at the very top of the payroll.

WWE announced that Kurt Angle returned to the WWE via the Hall of Fame on January 16, 2017.

He attended WrestleMania 33 and the next night he returned to “Monday Night Raw” for the first time since 2006.

In 2017, Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
