ENGLAND return to action TONIGHT as they take on Senegal.

Thomas Tuchel will be hoping for a much-improved performance from his side after an underwhelming display against Andorra on Saturday.

Harry Kane’s 50th-minute close-range tap-in was the only goal of the game as the Three Lions extended their unbeaten start to qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

England take a break from qualifiers this evening as they face Senegal in a friendly.

But fans will quickly notice that the match isn’t taking place under the arch of Wembley Stadium.

Why is England vs Senegal not at Wembley?

England vs Senegal is not taking place at Wembley this evening.

Instead, the City Ground will play host to the friendly as the home of English football prepares for a string of summer concerts, including Oasis and Coldplay.

The blockbuster undisputed bout between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will also take place at Wembley before England’s next match in the national stadium.

The Three Lions last played at the City Ground in 1941 for a wartime friendly against Wales – England won the clash 4-1.

And the last competitive England game at the City Ground also came against Wales in 1909.

Speaking on playing at other stadiums in the country away from Wembley, Tuchel said: “While I know Wembley is our home, I also understand the importance of taking the team around the country when we are able to and the opportunity to experience playing at a famous old English stadium such as the City Ground is one we can all look forward to.”

England return to Wembley on October 9th to face Wales in a friendly.
