Wolves vs Man City preview
Life doesn’t get any easier for Gary O’Neil at Wolves as they welcome champions Manchester City to Molineux.
It’s been a rough start to say the least with the club sitting rock-bottom of the division with one point from their opening seven matches.
Wolves have lost SIX and drawn once against Nottingham Forest, conceding a league-high 21 goals – five of those coming against Brentford before the international break.
O’Neil labeled the match the “worst” he’s ever been involved in as a coach,” while supporters made their feelings known at several points, singing “you don’t know what you’re doing” in the manager’s direction.
They’ve not registered a top-flight clean sheet since beating Sheffield United 2-0 in February, and have conceded more shots on target than any other side in the division.
So Sunday’s clash with Manchester City doesn’t bode well on paper.
The Cityzens are a point behind league leaders Liverpool and remain unbeaten in all ten matches in all competitions (W7, D3).
Manchester City have won seven of their last eight Premier League meetings with Wolves, scoring 25 goals across these games. The only exception was a 2-1 loss at Molineux in September last season.
You wouldn’t exactly say they’ve been at their brilliant best this season, especially without midfield maestro Rodri.
But they still have the lowest shots on target conceded (22), the most attempts on goal (135) and the fourth-highest xG (13.94).

Wolves vs Man City preview betting tips and predictions
Fill your boots
If Wolves defend anything like they did against Brentford, then this could be a field day for Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian superstar, 24, has struck 10 goals in seven Premier League appearances this season and will be desperate to find the net having blanked against Newcastle and Fulham.
He scored a brace for Norway during the international break, and has scored eight goals in just four Premier League appearances against Wolves – averaging a goal once every 40 minutes.

On target
I mentioned above that Wolves have conceded more shots on target than any other Premier League side this season.
But I didn’t mention that 22 of their 100 shots conceded have been headers – only Leicester have shipped more than that.
That could be good news for the visiting Citizens and their defenders with the champions having recorded the second-highest number of corners this season.
It’s a toss up between Josko Gvardiol or Ruben Dias, but we’re siding with the Portuguese centre-back to get a header on target this Sunday at 4/1 with William Hill.
