How many players are in snooker World Grand Prix?

The draw for the World Grand Prix features the top 32 players in the word, with the top seed playing the bottom.

In the 2024 edition of the tournament the top seed is Judd Trump and the bottom seed, ranked 32 in the world, is Jamie Jones — meaning the two play each other.

Round one of the draw is as follows:

Mark Allen defeated Judd Trump in a final-frame decider in 2023.

After his victory The Pistol said: “I don’t know about nerves, but I was shaking like a s***ting dog there.

“I actually said to Judd at the end, he had me completely gone. It is not often I go, I feel I am good under pressure.

“But I was completely gone. Some of the balls he potted there were ridiculous at times.

“I had him in trouble at 8-5, and there was a shot most players would get one in a thousand, but Judd seems to get them a lot.

“He put me under all sorts of pressure there, and I fell over the line. It would have been heartbreaking to lose after being 7-2 up.

“Judd is a great competitor and came back. he started looking so comfortable out there, so I am proud to get over the line.

“But I have felt better.”

Is the snooker World Grand Prix a ranking event?

The World Grand Prix has been on the tour since 2015 — but in its first year it wasn’t a ranking event.

However, since 2016 it has been contested as a ranking tournament.

Ranking events are those on the calendar which offer ranking points to the professional snooker players competing in them, with these points being used to determine seeding for tournaments on the World Snooker Tour and automatic qualification for the highest-ranked players at certain events.
