WREXHAM striker Paul Mullin has suffered a punctured lung after a reckless challenge from Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop.

Bishop was forced to intervene outside the box after Mullin beat Jonny Evans to the ball, nearly getting himself in a one-on-one situation with the 23-year-old keeper.

He then rammed into Mullin, causing a long pause in the game.

The 28-year-old forward eventually left the field with an oxygen mask on.

And after the game, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson confirmed his star went to hospital with a punctured long.

Bishop only received a yellow card for the challenge but it could have easily got the keeper sent off.

However, the Red Devils finished the game with 10 men on the pitch anyway in what turned out to be a tough 3-1 loss in San Diego.

Dan Gore received his marching orders after sliding into Andy Cannon with both studs up while attempting a tackle early in the second half.

Gore’s sent-off all but ended United’s comeback hopes, sparked by Marc Jurado’s goal that reduced Wrexham’s lead to 2-1 right before halftime.

The League Two side dominated on the field for the remainder of the game.

Sam Dalby settled the score in the 69th minute with Man Utd’s back four too lethargic to stop Wrexham from finding the net again.
