He made a surprise return at Survivor Series in November after leaving the organization more than a decade ago.
Punk started beef with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and the pair looked likely to clash at WrestleMania 40 in April.
However, after tearing his right tricep on Saturday, the wrestling star has indicated WrestleMania is no longer “on the cards.”
The 45-year-old appeared on Monday Night Raw with his right arm in a sling.
He told the crowd in Tampa, Florida, “WrestleMania 40, I guess it’s not in the cards ladies and gentlemen.
“But I’m a Chicago Cubs fan, and this isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last time I say this: There’s always next year.”
Punk is expected to miss several months and will require surgery, per PWInsider.
The report adds he will not return until the summer “in the best-case scenario.”
In September 2022, Punk tore his left triceps while at All Elite Wrestling and missed nine months as a result.
Wrestling fans were devastated by Punk’s setback and wished him well in his recovery.
One wrote on X, “Praying for a miracle.”
Another said, “Get well soon CM Punk the best in the world!”
“Noooooo!! Take my tricep,” a third added.
It’s been an eventful week in the world of wrestling, with Pat McAfee announcing a major new career change.
The former NFL punter returned to the commentary booth at Royal Rumble and shocked fans by heading into the ring.
