RASMUS HOJLUND has urged Erik ten Hag to re-integrate Christian Eriksen into Manchester United’s starting XI.

The Denmark international has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford in recent months and has had to settle for a place on the bench.

Eriksen’s contract at the Theatre of Dreams expires next summer and his lack of football has prompted questions about his future.

And his club and international team-mate Hojlund hopes to see him back on the pitch sooner rather than later.

The striker told TV2: “He holds his head high and he is a class player. There is absolutely no doubt about that.

“There is no concern at all from me about it.

“Of course, you want to play football And I’m sure he does too.

“He is a good player, so you would like to see him on the field.”

Eriksen, 32, has been an unused substitute in six of United’s last seven matches in all competitions.

And to say the midfielder is unhappy with his current situation would be a massive understatement.

He said: “I have previously stated that I am not satisfied with not playing.

“But it’s not something that keeps me up at night.

“The team is performing, and I must respect the role you have alongside.

“I have had a conversation with Erik about being unhappy with the situation and wanting to play as much as possible.”

Eriksen has found himself playing second fiddle to teen sensation Kobbie Mainoo, who was recently called up to the England squad.

Manchester United will be back in a week on Saturday, travelling to West London to take on Eriksen’s former side Brentford.
