If you are lucky enough to have Mbappe in front of you there would be a 1000 questions you would want to ask him.

But in a recent interview with the French outlet, Le Parisien saw them ask the Paris Saint-Germain star the most basic question one of all – how to say his name.

And to everyone’s amazement, they have been saying “Mbappe” wrong the whole time.

The PSG captain said you need to say “Mbappe”, with the “M” and the “b” pronounced in the same movement of the lips, and not “eme-bappe”.

He then explained “because there is no apostrophe” between the M and the B.

And joked that he would “have a lot of work to do” if he had to correct everyone”.

In French, double consonants such as “Mb” are prenasalised – a phonetic phenomenon that changes the pronunciation of a consonant by preceeding it with another.

Al-Ittihad star N’Golo Kante is pronounced in the same way.

Meanwhile, Mbappe may have more things on his mind than how to say his name.

As he has entered the final six months of his contract in Paris and has been free to negotiate with foreign teams since January 1 as a result.

The 25-year-old has long been on Read Madrid’s list of targets and it is no secret that they are trying to convince him to head to the Spanish capital on the expiration of his contract.

PSG have offered their star boy a deal worth £86m-per-year to fight off transfer offers.

The contract would see the World Cup winner pocket roughly £1.8M-PER-WEEK.

Mbappe has spent his entire career playing in Ligue 1 where he came through the ranks at Monaco before joining PSG in 2017.
