Young fan left in tears after steward throws banner in the BIN but Aston Villa star’s classy gesture saves the day

A YOUNG FAN was brought to tears after he had a banner confiscated before Aston Villa’s game with AZ Alkmaar yesterday.

The youngster had made a banner asking for France winger Moussa Diaby‘s shirt.

Diaby made the classy gesture of giving the boy his shirt at the end of the game[/caption]

He had hung the banner asking for Diaby’s shirt prior to kick off.

But a steward asked the kid to take the banner down, and then approached him to tell him the banner would have to be BINNED.

Dutch football has recently introduced bans on fans bringing in banners that ask for a player’s shirt – after claims that too many were then being sold online for profit.

The kid was reduced to tears as the steward walked away with his banner, with the child watching on as the child threw it into a wheelie bin.

A female steward then comforted the distraught child and brought him a cup of water.

But things turned out alright in the end as Aston Villa shared a clip of Moussa Diaby meeting the kid who asked for the shirt after the game.

Diaby exchanged a hug with the youngster before handing him the shirt he had been after all along.

The kid beamed as the club’s official photographer took a picture of him with his idol.

Villa went on to win the game comfortably, with goals from Leon Bailey, Youri Tielemans, Ollie Watkins and Jon McGinn seeing them run out 4-1 winners in Holland.

Villa are second in their Europa Conference League group behind Legia Warsaw, who they lost to in their opening fixture of the competition.

Both teams sit on six points, with Bosnian side Zrinjski and AZ Alkmaar both on three.
