Hosking, 38, grew up with rowing in the blood with her father, David, who was a lightweight rower.

She did have a foray into football as she was a midfielder for Wimbledon Ladies.

However, she became a regular in British rowing from 2007 onwards.

Her success at the Olympics with Team GB‘s second of six gold medals won on what became known as Super Saturday.

For her services to rowing, she was awarded an MBE in 2013.

Hosking retired from the sport that same year and has now embarked on a new career.

She started training as a solicitor at London law practice Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2015.

After two years, she progressed to become an associate at the practice before moving to the FA.

At the association, Hosking worked as legal counsel while also studying for a postgraduate degree in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford.

She stayed at the FA for three years before getting a job at Cazoo.

Hosking is still with the British online car retailer as the head of the legal department.

She admitted when retiring that a sports career was never the only thing that she wanted to do.

She said: “I have never seen sport as the only career I wanted in life. I wanted to be as good as I could and it now feels the right time to move on and do something else,” she explained.

“I feel really satisfied with what I achieved in my career and that made me feel that it’s the right time.

“In terms of motivation, I don’t have the same absolute passion and dedication that I would need to achieve more in rowing.

“I am now looking forward to watching the World Cup at Dorney this weekend, which will be a fantastic opportunity for everyone to watch the returning Olympians again.”

Hosking is not the only ex-Olympian who has a vastly different career since retiring.

2016 gold medalist Matt Langridge swapped boats for planes and is now a pilot.

Retired gymnast Kristian Thomas now works as a player care and engagement manager for the Premier League.
