Jobless Oscar Pistorius’ miserable life outside prison revealed as he ‘sweeps church floor when not holed up in mansion’

PARALYMPIAN-turned-killer Oscar Pistorius sweeps church floors as he’s unable to get a job, his parole paperwork shows.

The disgraced former Paralympian, 37, is said to be “too toxic” to be hired – and spends most of his time holed up at his uncle’s mansion.

He shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp dead with four bullets fired through the locked door of their bathroom on Valentine’s Day 2013.

After a round of appeals and challenges, Pistorius – dubbed the “Blade Runner” because of his carbon-fibre prosthetic legs – was sentenced to 13 years and five months for murder.

The South African double-amputee ex-sprinter was freed from jail in January after serving just over half of his sentence for murder.

But he has so far been able to reboot his image and has been outcast by former friends.

Pistorius is said to have attempted to speak to at least two members of the International Paralympic Committee in recent months to see if they could work together.

His requests for work have fallen on deaf ears, however.

One member told the New York Post: “He’s too toxic to work with now. There’s nothing for him here.”

Since his release, Pistorius has been staying at his uncle Arnold’s £2 million, three-storey mansion in Pretoria’s exclusive Waterkloof suburb.

It has been reinforced to protect him from underworld threats.

Tycoon Arnold, who made millions from property and tourism, is understood to have hired armed guards with attack dogs.

He has also put up razor wire and electric fences around the 12- bedroom converted church to keep his nephew safe.

His parole paperwork reveals he is listed as a volunteer at NG Kerk Waterkloof, a Dutch Reformed Church used by his uncle.

It is understood he does maintenance and janitorial work – such as sweeping the floor.

Aida Govender, who saw him at the church last month, said he is “not the same”.

She told The Post: “I almost didn’t recognise him.

“His hair is longer, and he’s got a bear. He’s also not as lean as I expected.

“You would never know he was an athlete, he’s just not the same.”

Another member of the church said Pistorius’ character is “not friendly or outgoing”.

What happened to Reeva Steenkamp?

OSCAR Pistorius shot model Reeva Steenkamp, 29, dead in the early hours of Valentine's Day 2013.

She was hit by four bullets in the head, hip and arm fired through the locked door of their bathroom.

Pistorius has claimed the horrific 2013 shooting was a mistake, saying he thought she was an intruder.

He claimed in court that it was only when he broke the bathroom door down that he realised she was in there.

After several appeals, Pistorius was sentenced to 13 years and five months for murder in 2016.

Reeva’s heartbroken mum June said that she thinks her daughter died because disgraced Pistorius “lost his temper”.

In an interview earlier this year on GMB, she said: “He knew she was in the toilet because they had had a huge argument.

“He lost his temper, he’s got no control over his temper and he lost his temper because she (Reeva) said, ‘I’m leaving I don’t want to be involved with you,’ her clothes were packed ready.”

They added: “I don’t know if I’ve seen him crack a smile. He’s just a shadow of what he once was.”

Pistorius was granted parole in November and had already returned home before his release in January.

His parole will last until December 2029 and he will be subjected to certain conditions for life outside jail.

The former “blade runner” will also have to attend therapy for anger and “gender-based violence issues”.

Pistorius will also complete community service, but does not wear an electronic monitor.

Instead, a parole officer can check on him at random times – and he is subject to alcohol and drug testing.
