LACHLAN Lam hopes to inflict more Challenge Cup scars on Hull KR after picking up a new one of his own.
If he does, expect tales like the one that claims one on his right leg came from a shark bite, when in fact it was a run of the mill surfing accident.
The Leigh star had 15 stitches in his left limb after being accidentally sliced open in the match against Leeds by a stray stud.
One look at the gaping wound gave him a glimpse of things that are not meant to be seen, it was so deep.
But fears he would be out for a while were allayed and he is back ready to do what he did at Wembley as the Leopards head to the side they defeated in golden point extra time courtesy of his drop goal.
Do that and the stories may start coming.
“Funnily enough, I’ve got a similar scar on my other leg from a surfing accident,” revealed Lam.
“I might make a story up about it to be honest. I made one up about the other one, saying it was from a shark bite. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

“Truthfully, though, it was the fins on the bottom of the board that caused it, this one was a stray stud. It happened so quickly.
“It wasn’t very pretty. It was a shock injury and I don’t really know how to explain it. You don’t really see them in everyday life, it wasn’t just a little cut, it was a gruesome run.
“It was very shocking to see. I looked down and thought, ‘I’m not meant to see that.’ It felt just like a bang on my leg and it just started stinging – that’s when I looked down and found out, it looked pretty bad.
“But our doctor, Nicola Fallon, did a very good job with it.”
Lam may be looking for a Challenge Cup repeat today but that would be very much a shock. Hull KR have kicked on while Leigh are going through injury torment.
But as he knows after ending a 52-year wait for the trophy with the one-pointer that won the final 17-16, anything can happen.
One thing is certain, though. He will not be liked at Craven Park.
The 26-year-old added: “They’ll give it to me left, right and centre. I don’t think they like me too much!
“We played there twice after Wembley last season, so I’m pretty used to it.
“At some stage, it had to be us together. Last year’s final ended in a good way for us but a Challenge Cup quarter final is always a tough task.
“Injuries aren’t ideal given what we’re trying to accomplish but we finished last season like that, running uphill.
“And going to Hull KR, we’re under no illusions about how difficult it is but we’re really up for it but we believe in what we’re doing.
“I’m sure at some clubs, belief may falter but not here. If you’re inside the walls here and you’re thinking like that, you shouldn’t be here.
“We’ve been in a lot of games and it’s not as far away as it looks from the outside. We all believe that.”
