TENNIS star Erika Andreeva was left in tears after losing a point because of a BEE at the National Bank Open on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old was trailing Marina Stakusic two games to one in the third set when the incident occurred.
Just before Stakusic was about to serve, Andreeva began waving her racket around in what appeared to be an attempt to swat a bee.
She then put her hand up to stop the play, but her opponent had already started the serve.
Following a heated discussion with the umpire, Stakusic was awarded the point.
Andreeva was left in tears as a result.
Fans took to social media to have their say, with many sympathising with the Russian tennis star.
One person wrote: “Common sense is high on the agenda here. Some of these umpires are literally clueless at times.”
Another commented: “This is a horrible call from the umpire.”
A third said: “I truly don’t understand the chair’s decision because she MADE THE RETURN with her arm up and Stakusic stopped playing the point when she noticed Andreeva’s arm up.

“So even saying he didn’t see her put her arm up, how does he award the point to Stakusic?”
While a fourth added: “This is one of the biggest fails from an umpire…”
Andreeva went on to lose the match 7-6, 1-6, 4-6 in the first round.
